Launch Event: Embracing the Asian Century

Landscape Architecture Australia are launching their special issue, Embracing the Asian Century, with a panel discussion that includes our own Heike Rahmann and our alumni and former editor of LAA Ricky Ricardo. Running as part of Melbourne Design Week the event will be hosted by the Melbourne School of Design on Thursday 22 March 2018, 7pm in the Singapore Theatre. For more information and registration, please visit the NGV Melbourne Design Week website.

The February issue of Landscape Australia celebrates the ties and exchanges of ideas between Australia and Asia in education, practice, and discourse. Heike Rahmann was one of the guest editors, and wrote — along with Jillian Walliss — 'Reflections on an Australian Education' that discusses the experiences of international landscape architecture students in Australia, including interviews with RMIT students Jackie Gu, Runjia Chen, Nudcha Chayapumh and Catherine Ooi. A second co-authored article, 'After Landscape' reflects on the life and legacy of the late RMIT landscape architecture academic Marieluise Jonas and her passion for learning and sharing knowledge through cultural exchange.
